Plans for a repatriation flight to bring medical students, LBJ Hospital employees and family members are nearly confirmed after complications caused by the delta outbreak in Fiji and subsequent border restrictions.

A charter flight is scheduled for the month of December and will bring home returning residents and LBJ Hospital employees to help alleviate long standing healthcare workforce challenges. The flight is scheduled for December 15 and will be a charter flight.

In previous interviews with LBJ CEO Faumuina John Faumuina, he said there were 7 medical personnel and dependents stuck in Fiji.

A handful of local students are studying medicine at the Fiji National University. The Diocese of Samoa-Pago Pago has a seminarian at the Pacific Regional Seminary.

Samoa Prime Minister Fiame Naomi has announced that a repatriation flight to bring home scholarship students and Samoan citizens working in Fiji is set for December 9.
