Travelers for the August 30th Medicaid flight which will be a test flight of American Samoa’s Safe Travel System have already registered on the Talofa Pass website to upload their personal documents and Covid test results.

Chairman of the Covid-19 Task Force, Acting Governor Talauega Eleasalo Ale announced two weeks ago that 50-100 people will be on the test flight.

“TALOFAPASS” is the official name of the electronic system and IT solution for travels to American Samoa that went live over the weekend.

The contract was awarded last week to DataHouse Consulting Inc of Hawai’i, a leading IT company based in Hawaii with over 40 years of experience.

Ms. Hong Phan, Co-President of the company presented to the Task Force and provided a look into the portal which centralizes numerous ASG department approvals and the array of travel requirements prior to entry into the Territory.

The electronic system will soon provide travelers with access to a mobile app which is currently in its approval phases with the Apple and Google Play stores. The app will also enable travelers to upload documents and receive QR quick response codes that can be scanned upon boarding.

Talauega announced that Medicaid Director Sandra King-Young and Upuese Galoia, Head of the IT Division in the Governor’s Office will act as the primary leads and interface in the ongoing collaboration between the American Samoa Government and DataHouse team.
