After successfully completing repairs to the tugboat Sailele, the Ronald Reagan Marine Railway at Satala is getting ready for a bigger job…repairs of the Samoa Govt vessel, the Lady Naomi, which arrived in the territory on Saturday.
The job is expected to take two weeks but a lot depends on the weather because if it rains, painting, sandblasting and other such tasks cannot be done.
Shipyard CEO Carlos Sanchez said some of the equipment and supplies the shipyard needs to complete boat repairs, which have been ordered, have still not arrived. Some are scheduled to arrive next week and more are expected next month.
The shipyard had to use their funds to finance the work on the tugboat Sailele which went into the water last week.
KHJ News understands payment for the job was received a few days before the boat was put down and ASG owes the shipyard for the balance of the work.
While the Lady Naomi is being dry docked, the Fotu o Samoa will be arriving Thursday for its fortnightly trip.
The shipyard has another boat scheduled immediately after the Lady Naomi, the Uttermost Witness, which is now in Samoa and heading here soon.
