The owners of Talofa Airways, the newest airline that will be flying the inter Samoa route, has set a start up date to launch their flight service. The Apia-based airline was issued approval by the US Department of Transportation last week to begin commercial service from Apia to and from American Samoa. An airline representative in Apia confirmed to KHJ News that August 29 is when they will have their inaugural flight from Samoa to American Samoa. The official said since news of FAA approval of their application, they’ve received inquiries from the business community, church groups and frequent travelers on the inter Samoa route. The airline has been issued a certificate to operate as a foreign corporation in American Samoa and is renting office space in Pago Pago International Airport. Talofa Airways has hired key staff with airline experience to oversee their local office.
