To assist travelers on the special medical charter Tuesday, July 21, the American Samoa Medicaid State Office is sharing some last minute info to help make this process a smooth and less stressful experience.
This is a full flight with every seat occupied.
For patients, please ensure you have your medicines on you for the flight and sufficient supply of medicines for your trip. There is no planned return charter due to border closures and it it likely you will be traveling for many weeks.
Utilize the early check-in from 1pm to 6pm on Tuesday.
Security will be increased at the airport to ensure the smooth movement
of patients and passengers from check-in to security and immigration–so
expect that there will not be room for families to congregate in the normal
seating areas with the benches. We want the charter flight to leave on time.
Check-in baggage is still limited to two-50 lbs bags.
Please have a good dinner, only sandwiches will be served on the flight.
Carry snacks and a water bottle in your carry-on.
Limit the amount of people that come to the airport as areas of the
airport will be cordoned off for security.
There will be a Medicaid table between check-in and security where ALL
passengers must stop in to pick up their COVID tests and the HI Governor’s letter for all Hawaii bound passengers.
There are no seat upgrade requests on this charter flight. All first
class and extra comfort seats are assigned to Level 1 patients first. HAL will assign seats to all other passengers.
“If you have any questions, please call 699-4777. Thank you. We appreciate
everyone’s patience during this process.”
