
A woman has been charged with one count of child abuse for allegedly beating her 7 year old daughter with a slipper.
The alleged incident was reported by the defendant’s ex-husband. To protect the victim’s identity we’re not naming her mother.
The girl’s father reported to police that his children spent the weekend with his ex-wife, the children’s mother. He picked them up on Saturday, May 23rd and while giving them a bath, he noticed bruises all over his 7 yr old daughter’s body.
When he questioned the girl, she said her mother hit her for disobeying.
Police interviewed the 7-year old and learned that the day before, her motherhood her to fetch her phone charger. But she forget about the charger and this made her mother angry.
The girl told police her mother used a rubber shoe to beat her.
Police saw bruises on the girl’s hands, shoulders, neck, forehead and both ears.
The girl was feeling pain in her ears and head area so she was taken to the hospital for a check up. The attending physician said injuries on both her ears was causing pain to her head area but there was no head trauma.
The doctor prescribed an antibiotic.
Police later picked up the 28 year old defendant and took her into custody.
She declined to make a statement. Bail was set at $5,000.
