
A woman who stole checks from her mother’s business and was convicted of fraudulent use of a credit device has been sentenced to 12 months probation.
According to the Samoa News, Vanessa Annesley was initially charged with two counts of forgery, one count of fraudulent use of a credit device and one count of passing a bad check, all felonies.
In a plea agreement she pled guilty to fraudulent use of a credit device and the other charges were dropped.
The defendant admitted that on March 7, 2018 she used a check knowing it was stolen to purchase gooda valued over $100.
The 33-year old told the court what she did more than two years ago was wrong but today she’s a changed person.
Annesley was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment which was suspended and she was placed on probation for 12 months and fined $1,000.
She was given a 50-day detention term, the exact number of days she was in the Territorial Correction Facility pending adjudication of her case.
She was credited for time served so she’s done her time in jail.
