Relatives of inmates at the Terrirorial Correctional Facility are drawing attention to restrictions on church ministries at the detention facility.

They report that the Department of Public Safety has put a hold on  church and community organizations which have been providing prayer services at the TCF.

According to relatives who spoke with KHJ News this is about the only respite for the inmates, when church groups come in to pray with them and offer them hope.  And there have been inmates whose lives were turned around as a result of these ministries.

However information from inmates indicate that the ministry services are being suspended and there’s been no explanation why,

With Thanksgiving Day two days away the relatives are praying that their detained family memebrs will be allowed a prayer service at least on the day to offer thanksgiving.

The relatives also report that construction of the wall around the TCF has added to the unfavorable living conditions in their cells.  They report that dust from the wall construction is particularly hard to bear for the Pending Building where defendants awaiting their cases are held.

Inmates are having problems breathing due to the dust according to the relatives.

They also report that since the last prison escape, inmates have been on lockdown and they are not being let out to get fresh air.
