DOH Director explains leased vehicles

Health Director Motusa Tuileama Nua explains that the reason why DOH leases many vehicles is because of special campaigns that are funded by federal grantors.

Governor Lolo Moliga said in a memo last week that DOH was the main culptir of a practice in which leased vehicles end up being registered in an individual’s name,

Motusa pointed to campaigns like the mass drug administration for lympahtic filariasis, as an example.

He said DOH doesn’t have enough vehicles for their teams to go out in the villages and administer the medication.

So they’re leasing 10 vehicles.

He said these will all be returned to the vendor once the campaign is completed.

And this is the same with other health campaigns that require teams to go out in the field.

The director did not have anything to say about the governor’s statement that leased vehicles end up being registred under an individual’s name .
