A Vietnamese man who traveled from American Samoa to Samoa was returned to the territory because of problems with onward travel documents.
The man traveled on Talofa Airways and according to airline officials had shown an onward itinerary to New Zealand indicating he would be leaving for Auckland yesterday evening.
However upon arrival at Fagalii Airport authorities there discovered that the man did not have a NZ visa and the ticket he produced for his travel to NZ showed that he wasn’t going to leave for Auckland until Wednesday.
So he was sent back on Talofa Airways yesterday evening.
Investigations show that the Vietnamese man first entered American Samoa on a 30-day permit, three years ago.
He does not possess an American Samoa Immigration ID card. Those who’ve questioned him say he hardy understands and speaks English.
Efforts to find out if his permit was applied by a corporation or individual have not been successful.
An airline official said that they contacted the travel agent who booked the man’s travel to Samoa and he has been turned over to Immigration.
The airline and Immigration are trying to make contact with two other men who were at the airport to see the Vietnamese traveler off.
