
A total of 800 young people will have summer jobs in ASG’s summer youth employment program administered by the Department of Human Resources..
The program will be officially opened next Monday in a ceremony at the Department of Youth and Women Affairs Center in Pago Pago.
Today employers and supervisors in ASG and the private sector attended an orientation at the Election Office Confetrence Room to go over rules and guidelines of the program, safety issues, time cards and other pertinent topics related to the 6 week program.
DHR Deputy Director Makerita Enesi says some of the participants who were picked for the program are also on teams going to the Pacific Games. Their slots will be given to other youth who didn’t make the first cut.
The youth participants work for four hours a day and will be paid minimum wage.
After the opening ceremony on Monday morning, the participants will undergo an orientation in the afternoon to go over punctuality, dresss, and what’s expected of them during the on the job training.
They wll be placed in their worksites on Tuesday.
