It was the wish of High Chief Aumoeualogo Je’o J Fuavai that all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren be with him in Seattle, Washington for Fathers Day on Sunday.
The Aoa chief had traveled to Seattle in March for medical appointments and checkups.
At 6:51 yesterday evening at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Seattle, Aumoeualogo passed away. He was 82.
His daughter Dr. Annie Fuavai who had accompanied him Seattle said when he passed away yesterday, eight of his 10 children were Aumoeualogo’s bedside.
Dr Fuavai said, “Knowing my father, he believes nothing is impossible. He was a very strong person standing up to the end for what he thinks is right…fearless but very warm hearted. Now most of his children are in Seattle as he desired. I am certain of his plan that he wanted all his children to accompany him home where the heart is.
“We dearly miss our father for he loves and provides for his children till the end of his journey.”
Aumoeualogo was one of the last surviving leaders from the time that American Samoa become self governing.
