The 2019 Flag Day Fautasi Race will have 10 entries, not 11.
Nu’uuli is fielding only one fautasi instead of two as originally announced.
Capt Manutafea said their older fautasi is not quite in a condition to race so Nu’uuli has just one fautasi, Manulele Tausala II.
The race which was originally set for 8:00 am has been moved to 11.
Deputy Secretary of Samoan Affairs Malemo Tausaga says captains have been told to have their fautasi at the starting line, 7 miles out by 10:30 am and the gun is set to go off at 11:00.
When KHJ News checked with the National Weather Service this morning, Meteorologist Salu Hans Malala said sea an wind conditions were ideal for the fautasi race for an early start…calm seas and waves were between 4-6 feet, with light variable winds.
The tide was at its lowest peak at 7:39 and the highest peak will be at 2:35 pm
