Passengers on last night’s Hawaiian Air flight report that the aircraft was unable to land on its first approach because the airport lights were not on.
Two passengers on the flight told KHJ News that as the aircraft was descending, they were susprised when it went up again suddenly, then circled, by which time the airport lights came on. The plane then landed safely.
The passengers said it was all quiet in the cabin when the plane made a sudden ascent. There was no explanation from the cockpit as to what happened.
Airport security verified the passengers’ statements and confirmed that the airport lights were out momentarily.
Security referred KHJ News to Airport Manager David Fuimaono who could not be reached as of news time.
