
The Republican Party of American Samoa hosted the Coleman Eisenhower Dinner, a function to honor the legacy of the first appointed Samoan governor for the territory, Uifaatali Peter Coleman.
Among those in attendance were Alo Dr Paul Stevenson, Utu Abe Malae, Taulapapa Will Sword and Uiagalelei Dr Lealofi all of whom served in the Coleman administration.
One of Uifaatali’s 12 children and American Samoa’s Congressional Delegate Aumua Amata spoke to the audience.

Uifaatali was also the first locally elected Governor of American Samoa in 1977. 
He was re-elected in 1980 and again in 1988.
Of the five locally elected governors of American Samoa, Uifaatali Peter Coleman has been the only Republican chief executive.
