The American Samoa Department of Homeland Security/TEMCO Division is conducting a functional exercise called tsunami 2017 on Wednesday, August 16.
The exercise, which is part of the department’s Disaster Preparedness Training, will test the Territorial Emergency Operation Plan and departments standard operational procedures to respond to a tsunami disaster.
It begins at 07:30 a.m. and will end at 03:00 p.m.
The training will include the evacuation of the A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building (EOB) in Utulei and an indoor siren at the EOB will be activated.
Homeland Security says do not be alarmed when you hear the siren in the EOB.
