
Local veterans had an audience with representatives of the private contractor for the Veterans Administration, TriWest Healthcare Alliance yesterday to discuss benefits available for veterans and their families.
The meeting provided an opportunity for local veterans to be fully informed about the eligibility requirements and services available to them.
TriWest’s Deputy Program Manager, VA Patient Centered Community Care, Hal Blair Sr. said they had been invited here by Congresswoman Aumua Amata.

Only about 30 veterans including a few from Samoa attended the meeting.
Those who spoke raised issue with delays in getting medical appointments in Honolulu, limited transportation to and from Honolulu and insufficient meal allowances.
One of the services that the TriWest representative informed veterans about was the ability to make their own appointments.
