Businesses and members of the public are expressing frustration at the interruption of ASG services due to the reduction in work hours for government employees.
A businesswoman said she showed up at Immigration Friday and it was closed at noon. The same day, Customs closed at 2 instead of 3.
Other callers complained about some of the clinics at LBJ closing early due to the short work week. The pharmacy window displays a sign saying they close at 3pm due to reduced hours.
The callers questioned why departments are not staggering workers to cover the full day and avoid interruption in services for the public.
Governor Lolo Moliga and Lt Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga had given clear and specific instructions during the cabinet meeting at which the reduction in hours was announced, that there will be no interruption in services.
The governor’s memo on the subject also said that government departments and agencies will maintain their normal work hours 8am to 4:30 pm.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The LBJ Hospital has advised that the Pharmacy closes at 5.
Drop offs at the window closes at 3.
