Members of the business community and the public are not happy with scheduling of work hours of some government agencies during the reduced work hours for ASG employees.
Last week, some business owners who went to the Executive Office Building in Utulei said before 1pm on Wednesday and Thursday, the place was like a ghost town.
One business owner said he was applying for permits but he got to Immigration before 2pm and the place was on lock down.
A woman shared a similar experience, saying she went to apply for a permit on Thursday and she got to the EOB at 130 pm and the building was empty.
She quoted the security guards saying that offices started emptying out at noon.
Governor Lolo and Lt Governor Lemanu gave specific instructions at the cabinet meeting at which the reduction in hours was announced early this month, that directors should schedule their personnel so that their offices will be manned until closing time and services to the public are not affected.
An ASG official said there’s no standard implementation of the 7 hour day…that directors have been given leeway to schedule their employees.
So some departments will take an hour off each day Monday to Friday while others are working four days for 8 hours and taking one day off.
