The seven fautasi that qualify for the finals of the 2017 Flay Day Fautasi Race are Paepaulupo from Aua, Fuao from Vatia, Mamulele Tausala from Nu’uuli, Matasaua form Manu’a, Taema from Leone, Iseula o le Moana from Fagatogo and Fetu o le Afiafi from Fagaalu.
The two boats that didn’t make the cut are Aeto from Pago Pago and Fealofani 
Samoa from Fagasa.
In the first heat this morning, the defending Flag Day Fautasi Champions Manulele Tausala was the clear winner finishing several fautasi lengths in front of the second place finisher, Matasaua from Manu’a.
Fagatogo’s Iseula o le Moana was third, Fetu o le Afiafi from Fagaalu was fourth and Fealofani Samoa from Fagasa finished in 5th place.
The second heat was the more exciting of the two with Paepaeulupoo from Aua and Fuao from Vatia switching places between lead and second place.
This went on for the last five minutes of a thrilling race.B
But in the last few seconds, Paepaeulupoo glided ahead of the Fuao to win the second heat but just by a fraction of a second.
Taema from Leone finished in 3rd place and the Aeto frim Pago Pago was the last to cross the finish line.
