Congresswoman Aumua Amata Radewagen is paying a final Congressional tribute to late Congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin.
KHJ News Washington Matt Kaye reports…
Congresswoman Radewagen introduced and advanced to the House floor under expedited procedures, a bill to name the VA outpatient clinic in Pago Pago, after the late Congressman Eni Faleomavaega, who passed away last month.
The joint House-Senate resolution names the local clinic, the “Faleomavaega Eni F. Hunkin VA Clinic.
Such ‘naming’ bills are considered routine, but still need approval by both chambers, even while Faleomavaega was a member of the House.
Congresswoman Radewagen also planned with other representatives, a separate series of speeches, in honor of Eni, American Samoa’s longest serving Congressman.

A scheduling change pushed those speeches back to Tuesday night or Wednesday, when lawmakers are expected to pay tribute to Faleomavaega and observe a minute of silence in his memory, on the House floor.
Interior Office of Insular Affairs Director Nik Pula led last month’s annual IGIA meeting here, with a moment of silence for the late congressman.
Numerous lawmakers, including island representatives, have expressed their condolences for Congressman Faleomavaega Eni F. Hunkin, whom Amata called a “soldier and a statesman who dedicated his entire life to serving the United States and the people of American Samoa.”
