The LBJ Tropical Medical Center has provided an update on two major ARPA funded projects which began last year.

The three level parking structure is rising.

After completing excavation and foundation preparation, concrete foundation works are actively progressing, and the structure is now visibly taking form. Utility relocations are continuing alongside construction to keep everything on track.

Once complete, this facility will greatly improve parking capacity, access, and circulation for patients, visitors, and staff, making every hospital visit smoother and more convenient.

The $8.2 million construction contract for the three level parking lot was awarded to Paramount Builders and a groundbreaking ceremony was held last September.

The hospital also reported that the piling work for the Central Plant is now complete, which means the loud banging noise and vibrations have ended.

Construction has now moved into the final phases of foundation work, including pile caps and other structural components.

These activities are well underway and are expected to wrap up in the coming weeks, setting the stage for the next phase of construction.

The Central Plant is intended to provide reliable power and mechanical support to keep hospital services running safely and efficiently. The contractor for the close to $18 million project is PJ Construction.
