The Chairman of the Republican Party of American Samoa Taulapapa William Sword says, “Contrary to what the local Democratic Party said in a recent press release, President Trump’s first SOTU speech was appropriate and full of facts, and in your face.”

Taulapapa said in a statement, “Like our Samoan elders who unashamedly admonished us on life lessons, President Trumps speech actually pointed out that the Democratic Party do NOT put Americans (and American Samoans) first, but instead put rapist, pedophiles, illegal immigrants, gang members, and communism first. He touted sharp drops in inflation to 1.7%, gasoline prices below $2.30 a gallon, border security gains, and tax breaks like no tax on tips or overtime after just one year back in office, while issuing sharp warnings about prior failures and clashing with disruptive Democrats in a record-long speech lasting nearly two hours. The speech exposed a contrast however. There were many moments where the difference between the two parties wasn’t subtle, it was poignant, right there in living color. And the camera didn’t lie.

“President Trump wasn’t there to play patty-cake with the Democrats. He was there to draw a line. And every time he did, Democrats responded the only way they seemed capable of responding — by sitting. Sitting and glowering. Sitting and fuming. Sitting while Americans at home stood and cheered.”

One reporter wrote, “When the President declared that the first duty of Congress is to protect American citizens, he invited members to stand if they agreed. Republicans rose. Democrats? Planted firmly in their seats. That was the moment. That was the moment.”

Taulapapa said, “The Democrats are out of touch with reality, and President Trump was not full of lies – he was full of facts, and shrewdly exposed the Democrats for not caring about Americans. When a group of people refuse to follow the constitution, refuses voter ID like we enjoy in American Samoa, refuses to use their logical brain to make decisions which benefit their own constituents, do not believe in Christianity, then they do not deserve to make policy for the nation. We do not need the incompetency of DEI in charge of the nation but we should require the best of the best.”
