Arts Council wraps up auditions for Performing Arts Festival

Out of 50 entertaining groups which auditioned for the Flag Day Performing Arts Festival, 30 had been approved to perform, as of Monday.

Four groups which did not pass their first auditions were scheduled for a final audition on Monday evening before the final list of performers is announced.

Director of the American Samoa Council on Arts, Culture and Humanities Ammon Fepuleai said they’ve noticed over the years that audience attendance so the groups were told that their entertainment must engage the audience from beginning to the end.

During the auditions, groups were either given a pass, nearly pass or a fail.

The ones that have been selected include schools, dance academies, church, village and some family groups. A total o 34 groups would make the final cut.

Fepuleai says there will be a few first time performers in the linr up for this year’s Flag Day Festival.

Two off island groups are also confirmed: the Tamalii Polynesian Entertainment Group from Arizona and the Samoa Aumaga dance group.

The local Korean Community will also be on the program.

The 2026 Flag Day Performing Arts Festival will be held April 13, 14, 15 at the Fagatogo Pavilion.
