2026 East Pacific Regional Championships open

The 2026 East Pacific Regional Championship Tournament has officially opened Monday morning at the tennis courts in Tafuna.

Father Andrew Wilson offered the invocation and the President of the American Samoa Tennis Association Florence Wasko welcomes off island teams, coaches, officials, sponsors, and government officials.

Deputy Attorney General Roy Hall Jr. spoke on behalf of Governor Pulaali’i Nikolao Pula to welcome the teams and officials and wished them a successful tournament. He hoped that one day, one of the players will compete in the Australian Open, or other major world tennis event.

Hall, Director of Parks and Recreation Andrew Pelesasa, Blue Sky CEO Tangavel Barlen Lutchmoodoo, and Fr. Andrew took turns serving the first ball to officially open the tournament.

Teams from American Samoa, Samoa, Cook Islands, Tahiti, and Tonga are competing. The tournament wraps up on Saturday.
