UPDATE: 1pm, January 28: Due to bad weather, the Doggie Wash has been cancelled. It will be re-scheduled for a future date to be announced.
The Annual Amonsta’s Doggie Wash takes place Wednesday, January 28 at the DWYA Tafuna Parking lot from 2pm to 6pm.
What was started by elementary school student Amona Fanene in 2024 has become an annual event. This year’s doggie Wash is special for Amona. It’s a celebration of his 13th birthday and he is dedicating the event in memory of his beloved pet dog Coco. Coco died last September.
Amona said, “It really hurts to see so many dogs being abandoned, some being stoned and others sick and homeless. The main purpose of my Amonsta’s Doggie Wash is to raise awareness of being kind to animals especially to doggies. Amonsta added, “I think it would be paws-itively amazing for all dogs on our island to come and get doggie clean!”.
He thanked DYWA Director Tapumanaia Galu Satele Jr for providing the venue free off charge, staff support and supplies for wash stations.
The doggie wash is free. Show up with your pet at DYWA Tafuna between 2pm and 6 pm, Wednesday, January 28.
