Samoa’s Deputy Commissioner Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti has resigned from the Samoa Police, becoming the second senior officer to leave the force in recent weeks.
MerMada Pacific News reports Papalii will relocate to Vanuatu at the end of the month after accepting a new regional role as Assistant Director at the Pacific Fusion Centre, a new chapter in a distinguished career in policing and law.
The Pacific Fusion Center is a regional research center offering advice on security issues amongst other regional matters.
Papalii has served with the Samoa Police for 21 years, including eight years as the first woman to hold the position of Deputy Commissioner in Samoa.
Her leadership has been widely recognized both locally and regionally.
Papalii is a qualified lawyer and a member of the Bar, bringing extensive legal expertise to her new role.
Her departure follows ongoing changes within the upper ranks of the Samoa Police Force including the still pending appointment of a new Police Commissioner.
