Governor submits nomination of Butler as ASG Treasurer to Fono

Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula has submitted to the Fono for confirmation his nomination of Brett Butler as Treasurer of the American Samoa Government.

Butler was first appointed as Acting Treasurer in September of last year shortly after the Governor terminated the services of former Treasurer Donald Kruse.

At the time Butler was Executive Advisor for Finance and Financial Officer for the Governor’s Office.

Butler joined ASG after more than three decades in the private sector. He was the first local to be appointed General Manager of StarKist Samoa, and held the position for nine years. He then joined Bumble Bee Foods where he held several managerial positions. He was vice president of Loining Operations, was Vice President and General Manager at the cannery’s Sante Fe Springs branch and was later Vice President of Finance Operations.

Butler holds a Bachelor of Arts from Ponoma College with a concentration in Mathematics.
