Samoa Prime Minister Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt has indicated that Samoa will open an office in Israel this year.
New Zealand-based Radio Samoa said the announcement was made by the Prime Minister during a recent prayer meeting in Apia.
Laauli said he has already discussed the matter with the Israeli foreign minister when he visited with him in New Zealand earlier this year.
“Many countries have been asking where we stand on the situation in Israel and I have declared that Samoa stands with the people of God,” he said.
He did not say when the project would proceed but indicated it would be launched later this year.
On Monday, Laauli and his wife were honored guests at another special prayer meeting for Israel organized by the charismatic churches in Samoa.
