An association of members of the American Samoa Government Employees Retirement Fund has announced that it has been officially incorporated with the ASG Registrar’s Office. Known as the ASGERF Members Association (AMA) it is now a legally recognized, member-based association representing members and beneficiaries of the American Samoa Government Employees Retirement Fund.

A press release from the association says AMA was formed to promote good governance, transparency, fiduciary accountability, and long-term retirement security for ASGERF members.

In carrying out this mission, AMA also recognizes that broader social and economic conditions—including fiscal policy, cost-of-living pressures, and public-sector sustainability—can indirectly affect the retirement security and overall well-being of ASGERF members and their families.

Membership in AMA is open to active employees, retirees, non-active or vested members, and ASGERF beneficiaries.

The main goals of AMA are the promotion of transparency, and awareness and maintaining a stronger voice for members.

AMA says it will hold its First Annual General Meeting on January 10, 2026, with the location and time to be announced.

Interim Chairwoman of the Board of AMA, Vaitinasa Dr Salu Hunkin Finau said, “This incorporation marks an important step forward. AMA now has a legal voice and a formal structure to engage constructively on issues that directly—and indirectly—affect the retirement security of thousands of families. Our goal is simple: informed members, sound governance, and a sustainable future for the Fund.”

AMA emphasized that it is non-partisan, independent, and member-driven, and exists solely to advance the interests of ASGERF members and beneficiaries, while encouraging informed dialogue on issues that bear on the long-term stability of the retirement system.

Further information regarding membership enrollment and meeting details will be released in the coming weeks.
