Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula released the following statement Thursday, November 13, concerning the end of the federal government shutdown.
“Today brings welcome relief and renewed strength for our people. With President Trump’s signing of legislation to end the federal shutdown, we welcome the restoration of stability and the reopening of critical services that our families, workers, and communities rely upon. The past weeks have tested the resilience of our nation’s federal employees and everyday citizens who bore the weight of uncertainty. Yet through patience, solidarity, and determination, we endured.
“We extend our gratitude to those who continued to serve under difficult circumstances, and we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that the voices of American Samoa are heard in Washington. Our administration will continue to advocate for long-term solutions that prevent such disruptions from threatening livelihoods and essential services. As we move forward, let us take this moment to renew our focus on unity, responsibility, and progress. God bless American Samoa.”
