Tafuna High School wins Mosooi Festival Siva competition again!

Tafuna High School has won the Mosooi Festival Siva competition for the second consecutive year.

On Saturday night at the Veterans Memorial Stadium, the Warriors won six of the ten categories to come out on top of the judge’s score sheets.

They won mauluulu, sasa, faataupati, taualuga, uniform, and taupou. Leone High School finished in second place and won the fuataimi category. Faasao Marist High School placed third and was awarded the song category after a three-way tie with Tafuna and Leone, and also was judged the group with the best conduct. Samoana placed fourth, Fagaitua High School was fifth and Nuuuli Vocational Technical High School placed sixth.

The winning school was awarded a cash prize of $6,000, second-place winner received $4,000, and the third-place was awarded $3,000. Winners of the various categories each received $1,000.

All of the high schools performed with enthusiasm and pride, and the cheering crowd of parents, classmates, and supporters gave them an extra boost.

The Agency for Better Living Endeavors (ABLE) and the Mosooi Team organized a well-executed and enjoyable siva competition providing a platform for high school students to display the finest in Samoan dancing and singing.

The siva competition was the concluding event for this year’s Mosooi Festival.

The next major event that ABLE is organizing is the free concert for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, featuring the Punialavaa Band, Marina Davis, and the Okzi Band which will be held Friday, November 28, at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.
