The House of Representatives on Thursday approved all of the nominations for the Samoan Language Commission.
The commissioners nominated by the Governor are High Chief Faiivae Alex Iuli, Aiono Okenaisa Fauolo, Rev. Elder Fouvale Asiata, Bishop Kolio Tumanuvao Etuale, Rev. Peter Schuster, Asomaliu Tali, Shute Tautu, Dr. Grant Muagututi’a, and Fonofili Muaava. The Fono members on the commission are Senator Noa Vae and Rep. Manavaalofa Tutuila Manase.
On a motion by Vice Speaker Fetui Fetu, instead of voting by secret ballot, the House voted by a show of hands to confirm all 11 commissioners. All 16 Representatives present, including the Speaker voted to confirm the whole group.
The Senate approved the Governor’s nominees to the Commission last week; however, Senator Noa and Rep. Manavaalofa had not yet been appointed at that time.
