Samoa’s Acting Director General of Health, Ulugia Dr. Tito Kamu, has confirmed another death from dengue fever.

Ulugia told TV1 that a 5-year-old girl died yesterday at the Pediatric Ward of Tupua Meaole National Hospital, after being referred from Lufilufi District Hospital.

She is the youngest victim of the current outbreak, bringing the total number of dengue-related deaths to three.

Ulugia is urging parents and the community to work together to eliminate mosquito breeding sites to help stop the spread of dengue fever.

He also advised that children showing signs or symptoms of dengue fever should be taken to see a doctor immediately.
