Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula, last week, announced the ASG holidays for Flag Day and Good Friday.

In recognition of the 125th anniversary of the American Samoa Flag Day, Wednesday, April 16 and, Thursday, April 17 will be observed as holidays for the American Samoa Government.

The Governor said, “This milestone marks over a century of unity, resilience, and progress as we honor our ancestors’ legacy and celebrate our enduring partnership with the United States.”

Friday, April 18 will be observed as the Good Friday holiday. “As we approach Good Friday on April 18, 2025, we recognize this sacred day as a time to reflect on the Atonement of Jesus Christ-His infinite sacrifice that offers hope, redemption and eternal life,” said the Governor. “His suffering in Gethsemane and His crucifixion on Calvary were acts of perfect love, providing the way for all to return to our Heavenly Father. May we use this time to strengthen our faith, express gratitude for His mercy and extend Christlike love to others.”

All government offices will be closed on the three days and normal activities will be suspended.

As usual employees of the American Samoa Government, who are not required to perform essential services, shall be excused from their duties. Those required to work on this day will receive holiday wages in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Governor Pulaalii said, “With deep appreciation for your hard work and dedication, I encourage you to celebrate our heritage, reflect on our blessings, and cherish this time with loved ones.

“Wishing you a joyous Flag Day and a blessed Easter weekend.”
