
Tomorrow we say konichiwa to the Japanese liner, ” Pacific Venus” which will be in port.
She’s traveling from Funafuti, Tuvalu , docking at 8:00 a.m. and will be in port until 5:00 p.m. then depart for Papeete.
The liner is on a 48-day cruise and will be carrying 644 passengers and 180 crew members on board, originating from Yokohama, Japan.
There has been a previous visit by the Japanese liner to Pago Pago.
The American Samoa Visitors Bureau is asking commercial bus & taxi drivers who will be taking tourists around the island to please wear clean “elei” or Polynesian printed shirts and lavalava/slacks while soliciting to conduct tour services for visitors off the ship.
The Bureau urges, “Let us welcome and showcase American Samoa’s warmest hospitality to our guests and visitors for the day.”
Vendors will be at the Fagatogo malae while the Fagatogo market place will have local produce and refreshments on sale, as well as clothing and handicrafts.
