Public Works crews responded to calls about overflowing streams and debris covered roads in the eastern district Sunday.
Acting Director of Public Works Falavai Taase said there were calls for assistance from Auto, Pagai and Amouli about stream banks bursting and causing flooding. Crews also cleared rocks washed up by rough seas on the main road.
There were also reports of fallen tress blocking the road in Fagasa, Masausi and Amouli.
On Monday morning, there was flooding caused by overflowing streams at Matafao, Fatu ma Futi and Pago Pago.
Reports from Manu’a say huge boulders had blocked the access road connecting Fitiuta to Ta’u and Faleasao. And this was likely to affect school transportation.
Taase said DPW is accepting calls for assistance for any weather related incidents at 770-6703, 258-4485 or the Public Works landline 699-9921.
