The Department of Port Administration has filed an incident report with the Federal Aviation Administration concerning the crash landing of a Talofa Airways aircraft at Pago Pago International Airport, this past Sunday.
This is according to Port Director Falenaoti Loi On-Fruean in response to questions from KHJ News.
The Director said she would disclose details of the incident later.
The Talofa Airways flight traveling from Faleolo Airport had eight passengers on board. One of the passengers, Mrs. Matau’a Aasa Matai, said shortly after the plane landed that they heard a loud noise before the plane started sliding on the runway on its nose. She said they found out later that the front wheel broke after the plane landed.
All of the passengers and pilot escaped unharmed.
Owner of Talofa Airways, Toleafoa Jeffrey Hunter told the Samoa Observer there was an investigation underway noting he was unable to provide further details.
“The most important thing is the plane landed, it had no problems and also the people,” said Toleafoa.
“Any other information about what happened, there is an ongoing investigation.”
Talofa Airways is continuing inter Samoa flights with its other two Aero Commander aircraft.
