The Senate has confirmed Jon Clemens as District Court Judge of American Samoa.

The vote was unanimous, 15-0.

Clemens joined the High Court in 2011 as a Judicial Clerk. In 2012, he was appointed as Staff Counsel of the High Court.

He was named as an Acting District Court judge in 2022.

Clemens obtained  his Juris Doctor from the University of California’s Davis School of Law in 2010.

In other news from the Fono, the House has approved and sent to the Senate a bill which would require members of the Board of Directors of the Territorial Bank of American Samoa and the LBJ Hospital Board to be approved by, both, the Senate and the House of Representatives.

At present, only Senate approval is required for confirmation of members of the two boards. The House had approved the same bill last year, but Senators rejected it.
