The LBJ Hospital now has 15 Thai nurses on its staff after two new ones arrived from Thailand, last week.

Human Resources Director of the LBJ Hospital Rowena Reid says the nurses are being assigned on a rotation basis depending on urgent need.

“Although they have their specialized areas, they were asked during their interview if they were willing to rotate and they all agreed to it, she told KHJ News. Adding that, so far, feedback from patients has been “very positive.”

The only concern for some of the nurses is their English that some find hard to understand. According to Reid, during the interviews, applicants whom they found to have poor English skills were not considered.

Three more nurses from Thailand are due to arrive December 15th, and four others should be here before the end of the year.

The hospital management hopes to hire 20 more Thai nurses in the new year.
