Airport firefighters are undergoing a four-week training, the first one in a few years.
The two instructors for the Firefighting Readiness and Professional Standards Boot Camp, are from On Scene Training Associates based in New Jersey, Aaron Hallar, one of the founders, and Carl Haddon, the chief trainer.
Training in putting out plane crash fires presents challenges because with the aviation industry making vast improvements in safety, the experience that trainers get from putting out actual fires is limited.
Chief trainer Haddon said their focus is to make the airport firefighter leaders equipped with the highest quality of skills sets needed to respond to airport incidents.
