Treasurer Malemo Tausaga says the balance of the more than $4 million, that was erroneously transferred to Wells Fargo Bank, has not been returned.
So far just $950,000 has been returned by the off-island bank, leaving a balance of more than $3 million.
The Treasurer told KHJ News this morning that Treasury has paid all of the money owing LBJ Hospital, while waiting for the balance to be returned by Wells Fargo.
LBJ CEO Dr. Akapusi Ledua reported to the Senate last week that they’ve received the full $4.4 million from Treasury.
This gave senators the impression that all of the funds that was transferred to Wells Fargo had been returned.
But, according to Malemo, they’ve used other ASG funds to pay the LBJ subsidies while waiting for Wells Fargo to return the balance.
The money that was transferred to Wells Fargo was ASG subsidies for LBJ Hospital.
