More than 60 members of the American Samoa Army Reserve departed the territory Tuesday night for training exercises in Indonesia.
The aircraft that they traveled in was a 747-400, and it was the first time since 2018 that a 747-400 was seen at Pago Pago International Airport. 
On the aircraft from Honolulu were more than 100 soldiers from the 100th Battalion and after picking up the local reservists, the aircraft continued to Guam to uplift reservists there before continuing on to Indonesia.
The training exercise will take about a month.
Spouses and children gathered at the airport Tuesday evening to farewell the local reservists.
