The official results of the America 250 Anniversary fautasi championship race have been announced by the CEO of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority Folasaitu Sorepa Thomas.
Speaking on KVZK-TV she declared Vatia’s Fuao as the official winner. Nu’uuli’s Manulele Tausala III placed second, Alao was third, Fealofani Samoa from Fagasa in fourth place, Lupelele from Iliili took 5th place and Pago Pago’s Aeto placed 6th.
The ASTCA CEO also said that all of the fautasi will be awarded the cash prizes that had been announced for the race.
Fautasi captains had been told during meetings that if any fautasi violated the rules of the race they would not receive cash prizes.
The ASTCA CEO said that the Fautasi Committee had accepted the advice of the fautasi captains and all of the fautasi will be awarded the cash prizes that had been publicized for the race.
The Fuao wins $30,000, Manulele Tausala III takes $25,000, Alao receives $20,000, and Fealofani Samoa gets $15,000.
Lupelele and Aeto and the fautasi that didn’t advance to the finals: Matasaua, Paepaeulupoo, Taema, Manulele Tausala 1 and II, Iseulaolemoana and Faleolatia receive $10,000 each.
Lupelele has been announced the winner of the $2,000 award for Best Team Spirit.
