
The Department of Port Administration’s Vision 2030 for Pago Pago International Airport includes not just a new modern terminal building, but also a convention center, hotels, restaurants, stores and a solar farm. Director Barney Sene said the solar farm would be built in the grassy area at the end of the runway and would generate 20 to 24 megawatts.

Sene also revealed plans for construction of a new and bigger stadium with an eye towards hosting a major sporting regional event.

Sene said while the stadium is not on airport land, Port is to have discussions with Sports Complex and Parks and Recreation to incorporate sports related activities with the airport expansion.
