Three members of the Board of Teacher Certification have been confirmed by both the House and Senate. They are Patricia Vaivao, Dr Senouefa Mana’o and Dr Mareta Te’i.

In the Senate all three nominees were unanimously confirmed by a vote of 16-0. The three also received unanimous approval in the House of Representatives with all 14 faipule present voting to confirm them.

The House also approved all seven nominees appointed by the Governor to the Board of Directors of the Feleti Barstow Public Library.

Lance J. Glodowski, Fa’ailoa Seui Afalava, Dr. Ernest Tamafili Seiuli, Dr. Salote Aoelua-Fanene, Lancelot Te’i, and David Edison received the unanimous approval of all 14 representatives. Board member Aitofi Lomu was confirmed by a vote of 13-1.
The Senate has yet to hold a confirmation hearing for the library board.

The Fono will take a three day recess after its session on April 7. It will then reconvene the following week on April 13, 14 and will wrap up the Third Regular Session on April 15. There are still government boards that the administration submitted for confirmation which have not been introduced in the Senate. These include the boards of the Territorial Bank of American Samoa, the Development Bank of American Samoa and the American Samoa Economic Development Authority, ASEDA. The Senate held a confirmation hearing for the Immigration Board last week but has not held a vote.
