The Governor has ordered a temporary freeze on all local fund expenditures effective Wednesday, April 1st and continuing to Friday April 10.
Governor Pula’ali’i Nikolao Pula said in a March 31st memo this was due to a significant backlog of outstanding payments and the freeze is intended to strengthen ASG’s financial position.
During the freeze no local fund spending of any kind is permitted except for payroll and overtime for first responders.
There will also be no approvals for travel. And no personnel transactions will be allowed.
The Governor told directors their cooperation in implementing this directive immediately is critical “to our collective financial stability.”
