
“Please conserve electricity. Use less power so that your bills can be manageable.”
That’s the advice of the American Samoa Power Authority to customers as fuel prices increase as a result of the conflict in the Middle East.
ASPA said in a notice on Wednesday that the cost of diesel has risen over the last four weeks due to the war in Iran, and American Samoa fuel prices definitely will be impacted.
These increases will be reflected in the April and May 2026 utility bills.
For residential customers the system rate for March, which is the combination of the fixed Electric Base Rate and the Fuel Surcharge Rate is .35 cents a kilowatt hour.
The Fixed Electric Base Rate remains the same each month however the Fuel Surcharge Rate changes monthly due to fluctuating fuel costs in the world fuel market.
For March the system rate for Small General Customers is .36 cents per kilowatt hour and for Large General Customers the system rate is .34 cents per kilowatt hour.
ASPA said it hopes to put the Solar Farm in Pavaiai up in the next two months to help lessen the impact of rising fuel costs. The Pavaiai Solar Farm is to produce 20 megawatts.
