Describing the move as “essential”, the Ministry of Police said in a statement it hoped the officers will make sound judgments ensuring their safety as well as the public at large.
At the heart of the policy is a zero tolerance for illegal drug use, reinforcing the high standards expected of all personnel.
The statement also said the policy was inline with government policies of improving the administration of justice , promoting public safety and reducing the impact of illicit drugs in the community.
The Police said the new policy reflects its commitment to improving integrity professionalism and public trust and leading by example.
“Through strong collaboration, the shared goal of a safer and more secure Samoa becomes increasingly achievable,” said the statement.
