Is ASG being billed for inactive phone numbers?
Acting Treasurer Carrie-Lee Magalei-Tulafono has announced that Treasury, in coordination with the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority, is conducting an ASG-wide phone number audit. The purpose of the audit is to ensure only active accounts are maintained and billed.
Departments are required to review their listing of all phone numbers and verify their status. For active numbers, department are to confirm if they are still needed. Inactive numbers should be flagged for disconnection.
Departments have to submit a completed verification list of their phone numbers to Treasury by March 23 and schedule a billing review meeting with Treasury.
The Acting Treasurer says the audit will identify unused lines, reduce costs, and ensure fiscal accountability across all ASG departments.
